The Rocks, Sydney Wedding photography | A postponed wedding but a celebration like no other

Having had the opportunity to photograph many weddings, this one in particular, stood out from the rest. It wasn’t about how beautiful the location was, nor the dress or the cake (though these things were definitely lovely), it was rather the joy that the bride and groom had towards each other, and their bridal party.
Jono and Esther had originally wanted their wedding day to be in front of their family and friends, but with the global pandemic and Sydney’s lockdowns this was not possible. Like many couples, they were disappointed, but made the decision to legally marry in a small ceremony in 2021. By the time of their wedding celebration, they had already been married for a year and their love for one another really shone in their photoshoot. The whole bridal party was a blast and there was plenty of laughter!

THE ROCKS, SYDNEY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Initially we were a little concerned as the weather had forecasted a 90% chance of rain, but as I was walking around The Rocks and Argyle Street, in Sydney, I could tell we didn’t need to worry. It was a beautiful blue-sky kind of day. Everyone in the bridal party looked fantastic, the girls looked gorgeous, and the boys were so much fun. During the photoshoot, you could really see all their personalities coming out. Not only did they make each other laugh but they made me laugh too. We walked around The Rocks to find beautiful spots. We were accompanied by Rosie Whatmuff from Mad Studio Sessions who was documenting their day on a 35mm film analog camera.
By the end of it my chest was hurting so much from laughing. Everyone was in such a good mood and it was honestly a great time.
From the moment we all arrived at the reception venue Wilhelmina's located in Balmain, all their family and friends were so welcoming and all the staff made sure everyone was having a great time, I have to add, Wilhelmina's one of the best venues in Balmain with emphasis on serving dishes made from the seasons produce. It is such a unique and cosy venue which was the perfect fit for Jono's and Esther's celebration.

It was so heart-warming to listen to all their speeches. You could really tell how loved the couple are by their friends and family. The way that each person spoke about them as individuals and as a couple, really reflected what lovely people they are.
Esther’s father was almost in tears and nearly made everyone else cry! Whilst the groom’s father made us had us in fits of laughter. The groomsmen wrote and performed a song about Jono, again they were hilarious and very talented too. Esther and Jono had a stunning choreographed first dance where she had changed into a new dress. Love really was in the air that afternoon.
After their dance, all their family and friends surprise them with a flash mob to "Dancing Queen -Abba"
Such an honour being apart of their special day! WHAT A DAY!!
